By Camilo J. Vergara
Inspired by a Lionel Hampton composition, [Flying Home Harlem Heroes and Heroines by Faith Ringgold is] an array of performers, painters, sports heroes, artists, writers, musicians, civil rights activists, and religious leaders appear to be flying joyfully through the air. Ringgold’s piece connects with those of at 116th and 135th Sts. creating a three-chapter story of Harlem history. Source: www.nyc.gov
